"The Edge": Foster + Partners' First Project in Uruguay

On the prestigious Rambla de Carrasco in Montevideo, Uruguay, "The Edge" emerges, an architectural jewel marking the first venture of the world-renowned Foster + Partners studio alongside Ponce de León Architects and with the support of Betalba Capital. This project, set to be a milestone in contemporary design, comprises 8 exclusive luxury residences, each with a unique identity and panoramic views of the Río de la Plata.

Foster + Partners, a British architectural firm with global renown, is known for its focus on sustainability, technological innovation, and timeless design. Notable projects include the renovation of the Reichstag dome in Germany, The Gherkin in London, Hearst Tower in New York, and Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Their foray into Uruguay, alongside Ponce de León Architects, signifies the growing international interest in the Uruguayan real estate market.

The Void as seen from the interior of an exclusive residence

Every detail in "The Edge" has been carefully selected. The interiors feature Porcelanosa porcelain tile flooring in living and kitchen areas, wooden floors in intimate areas, Bulthaup kitchens from Germany, Miele appliances, Poliform closets and dressers from Italy, and faucets designed by Foster + Partners, also from Porcelanosa. Furthermore, the project is equipped with advanced Mitsubishi climate control and hot water systems (Japan) and Ikatu/Bang & Olufsen home automation.

The project's location is a key factor in its appeal. Situated in the heart of Carrasco, "The Edge" offers a serene and exclusive environment, just meters away from the luxurious Hotel Casino Carrasco and the vibrant gastronomic area on Avenida Arocena and Rostand. It also provides direct connection to downtown Montevideo, is 5 minutes from Carrasco Airport, and an hour from Punta del Este.

The design's uniqueness positions it as more of an art piece than a building project. The structure is characterized by its construction in white concrete with a central courtyard covered in Murano glass, housing a majestic tree. The residences, with 3-meter high ceilings and panoramic windows with minimalist German openings, include only 8 units of 2 to 4 bedrooms, some with large gardens, and others with luxurious private rooftops equipped with pools, solariums, fire pits, toilets, and kitchens with Miele appliances.

The level of luxury and sophistication of "The Edge" is unparalleled in Uruguay, comparable only with a few projects in Latin America. The decor, managed by Zinc Design studio, adds a touch of elegance and modernity. The services, including 24-hour concierge, spa, pool, and gym, are designed to meet the needs of the most demanding residents.

With construction beginning in the first quarter of 2024 and projected completion in 2025, "The Edge" targets an international audience with high purchasing power. This project is not just a residence; it's a habitable work of art, a status symbol, and an investment in a life of luxury and comfort.

At BLK, we are proud to be designated Master Broker for "The Edge," marking a before and after in the urban architecture of Montevideo.
