Until now, an executive jet arriving from abroad for the Fasano Las Piedras complex near Punta del Este had to land first at a Uruguayan international airport for immigration and customs, then fly the short leg to Las Piedras. The natural stop was Punta del Este International Airport (Laguna del Sauce), about 9 nautical miles from the private runway.
That changes. According to Aviacionline on November 5, 2026, Brazilian group JHSF —developer and operator of the project— said the Uruguayan government authorized the change of category to international airport. Private international operations may start in early December 2026. Passengers will be able to deplane directly at the complex.
The runway and the FBO
JHSF built the aerodrome in 2021. The company describes a runway of about 1,300 meters, a apron, and direct access to Hotel Fasano Punta del Este – Las Piedras, and says it plans to lengthen the runway, without published timelines or dimensions. When DINACIA first cleared it, runway 05/23 measured 1,260 meters by 18 meters and was authorized only for daytime visual operations, as Aviacionline reported at the time.
At Las Piedras, the group will install and operate an FBO (fixed-base operator / executive aviation terminal) under JHSF Private Aviation Terminals. That network includes São Paulo Catarina Executive Airport, an operation at Guarulhos, and the FBO at Opa-locka in Miami.
What JHSF says
For Augusto Martins, CEO of JHSF, the authorization “represents an important achievement for JHSF and a new milestone in our strategy of connecting destinations and integrating businesses,” and “reinforces the importance of Uruguay for the company, where we have invested for nearly two decades.”
JHSF arrived in Uruguay in 2007 and launched Fasano Las Piedras in 2010: a 480-hectare complex with a hotel, private neighborhood, golf, and polo. In 2026 it added the purchase and expansion of Complejo JHSF Península.
Our take at Blk. Realty
This section is Blk. Realty analysis, not an official figure: the source has no traffic or real-estate impact numbers, and we are not inventing any.
For anyone who lives or buys near Punta del Este —especially anyone who travels by private aviation— the clearance shortens the last leg of the trip. Arriving straight at the complex, without the technical stop at Laguna del Sauce, is a concrete change in experience. It also strengthens Las Piedras and the Península as luxury destinations with their own infrastructure, in line with other connectivity upgrades we have been following in the area.
